New Multiple Attempts Tracking in the Course gradebook

With Avallain Magnet Release 27, teachers and students can see a record of all the attempts submitted from assignments and courses in the Course gradebook.

If this feature is enabled, teachers and students will be able to click on the tooltip symbol next to an exercise inside a course and a row of tiles will appear below. Each tile will show an attempt submitted by the student with information on the date of the submission, the number of the attempt and the score obtained.

Important: Only the last attempt submitted can be reviewed and marked by the teacher.

Note: This feature can be enabled or disabled by an Org Admin in Magnet Administration at an institution level.

Consolidation of assignment and course progress

Avallain Magnet Release 27 comes with an enhancement to our Courses and Assignments that significantly improves how student progress is tracked and recorded.

Previously, when a student completed and submitted an exercise accessed through assignments, this achievement was not reflected in the Course gradebook. This limitation is now a thing of the past.

With this update, every piece of progress made by students—whether through completing the full course or individual assignments—is recorded in the Course gradebook. This includes not only the scores obtained but also, when relevant, the skills developed through each exercise.

Note: To take advantage of this new feature, the Multiple Attempts Tracking option must be activated in each institution’s settings in Magnet Administration.

Further improvements for Magnet Create

In our last release, we introduced Magnet Create. This tool is integrated directly into the Avallain Magnet interface, enabling teachers to effortlessly and efficiently create their own courses.

One significant enhancement that comes with Avallain Magnet Release 27 is the ability for teachers to delete a published course that has not yet been shared. Before this update, once a course was published, the option to delete it was not available, potentially leading to clutter or the accumulation of unused content within the platform.

New Edlink integration (beta version)

With Avallain Magnet Release 27 we introduce a crucial functionality for our platform: The Edlink integration, now in its beta phase. This new functionality will facilitate seamless integration with leading Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Google Classroom –Moodle, Canvas, Schoology and Blackboard will be added soon—.

While customers are not required to maintain an individual account on Edlink—since this aspect is managed through the Avallain account—it's mandatory for them to have an account on any LMS platform they wish to integrate with Magnet (for example, Google Classroom).

The first phase of this integration supports a range of functionalities within Google Classroom, albeit with certain limitations and specificities:

  • Single Sign-On (SSO)
  • Data Rostering: The integration allows for automatic creation of institutions, users, and groups within Google Classroom, simplifying the management and organisation process.
  • Assignments: When an assignment is created in Avallain Magnet under a specific group, a corresponding link is automatically shared in the related class on Google Classroom.

Important: If you are interested in leveraging this integration, contact our Customer Success Team.

New OKTA Single Sign-On (SSO)

Okta is a leading cloud-based service renowned for its robust identity and access management solutions, tailored for businesses and organisations of all sizes.

To leverage the Okta SSO functionality, customers are required to possess an active Okta account. Once enabled by the Org Admin in Magnet Administration at the institution level, users will notice a new button on the institution login page.

Important: If you are interested in enabling OKTA SSO in your organisation, contact our Customer Success Team.
