chabaDoo and Avallain reimagine education

Avallain supports chabaDoo GmbH as an experienced partner, providing its software solutions Avallain Author and Avallain Unity to the young start-up company. The goal: Reimagining education and preparing learners at Austria’s schools for the requirements of an increasingly digitalised world.

In addition to its innovative learning platform, chabaDoo provides an entire education ecosystem, including specially developed hardware (combining tablet and notebook functionalities) designed for educational use in a classroom setting.

Interactive, individualised learning with chabaDoo

chabaDoo focuses on meeting the different needs of learners and teachers by creating learning content which allows for easy individualisation. Learners are motivated to engage in independent learning via gamification elements. The chabaDoo software allows them the opportunity to chart their learning paths through the materials. At the same time, learner performance and successes are tracked carefully to document their progress, while allowing them to set their own learning objectives. All this combines into a highly individualised learning experience.

Content creators can use Avallain Author to develop interactive learning materials which can then be redesigned according to the level of knowledge learners have at any given time. Teachers are also invited to interact with the learning platform and, for example, create their own learning materials. “It is amazing to see how well we managed to implement these individualised pedagogical concepts using Avallain Author and Avallain Unity”, explains Ursula Suter, Chairwoman of the Board and Avallain Co-Founder.

Avallain understands innovative pedagogical concepts

Avallain Managing Director and Co-Founder Ignatz Heinz is certain: “We were able to develop the structure of the chabaDoo platform within a concise time frame, all thanks to our flexible, modular learning platform architecture Avallain Unity.” After all, only six months passed from the conception of the platform to the first Beta, which has been available to 170 students and 50 teachers since September 2018. During beta testing, chabaDoo can count on several partner schools, including:

  • The Federal Trade Academies and Federal Trade Schools in Perg, Steyr and Judenburg
  • Linz International Business School
  • The Commercial Schools of the bfi Wien
  • NMS Sankt Agatha in Upper Austria
  • Schule des Handel(n)s

Naturally, developing the software also brought many challenges. However, chabaDoo was able to count on Avallain’s full support: “Thanks to its educational background and many years of experience, Avallain was able to quickly understand our pedagogical concepts, which were scientifically tested and validated during the first Beta by FH Oberösterreich – Campus Hagenberg. We were thrilled to see how our concepts were implemented into an intuitive software suite. Avallain’s industry-leading solutions have significantly helped us to realise our final goal of developing an entirely new digital learning service”, says chabaDoo Managing Director Markus Fischer.

Focused cooperation on a successful project

Today, both partners can look back at an exciting and successful project:

  • A complex project, implemented in the shortest possible time
  • Innovative ideas from teachers and learners, translated into a learning environment
  • A learning platform, created within the given time frame by a focussed team of experts

Ursula Suter sums it up: “I am sure that our implementation of gamification elements to represent the learning progress will set an entirely new standard within the Austrian education system.” Following the very positive feedback from students, teachers and parents so far, the next Beta is scheduled for September 2019. This new implementation means that before the year’s end, many more learners will gain access to a learning platform whose wide range of functions will continually expand.
