Ursula Suter
Executive Chairwoman and Co-Founder
Ursula’s interest in innovation led her to e-Learning as early as 1997, when she co-founded and built one of the first international “web-based training” organisations (Viviance new education). Her expertise in instructional design allowed her to train the first generation of online education designers in Europe.
In 2002, Ursula shifted her energies to a new initiative when she co-founded Avallain. Under her leadership, Avallain has implemented large scale adaptive literacy systems and established a not-for-profit subsidiary in Kenya.
As Executive Chairwoman and Co-Founder, she has also overseen education projects in publishing, language training, health, engineering, sustainable agriculture and literacy for partners and customers including Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Pearson, National Geographic Learning, Springer, Macmillan Education, Elsevier, the German Federal Government, Santillana, Grupo SM, Cornelsen, Klett and Westermann as well as several Fortune 500 corporations.
Ursula continues to explore new and adaptive systems that enhance learning effectiveness and is currently working on making Avallain’s services available in the Americas.

Ignatz Heinz
President and Co-Founder
Ignatz wrote his first training software in 1984 while still in high school. The potential of educational technology continues to fascinate him and has turned his high-school hobby into a global Digital Education enterprise.
Driven by a desire to apply theory to practice, he co-founded and built one of the first international “web-based training” organisations (Viviance new education) in the 1990s. This allowed him the opportunity to work with industry leaders such as Steve Wozniak and to apply his knowledge to a range of cultures and industries, from publishing in Italy to Linux training in Silicon Valley.
Since 2002, as President and Co-Founder of Avallain AG, he has implemented large-scale education technology projects in publishing, language training, health, engineering, sustainable agriculture and literacy for partners and customers including Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Pearson, National Geographic Learning, Springer, Macmillan Education, Elsevier, the German Federal Government, Santillana, Grupo SM, Cornelsen, Klett and Westermann as well as several Fortune 500 corporations.
His innovative ideas about the integration of technology and education have substantially informed the development of Avallain’s software products.
